a webcomic in the making?

if i find the time, and the motivation, and the time, and the know how, and the time, and find the resources in a timely fashion i just might start creating a web comic for my very seldom viewers. it is something that i have hoped to do.

as if logan’s art deadlines weren’t numerous enough. ACHS wants logan to create a backdrop for beta, a banner for beta, a scrapbook for beta, and a mural or two for the arts honors society.

procrastionation be damned… some other time.

this makes me forget how busy i could be if i weren’t a procrastionator.

The Duke Spirit

long ago, Logan traveled across the concrete jungles of Charlotte to see Incubus perform live at the verison amphitheatre… Logan had not counted on encountering a new united kingdom based band, but that’s what happened. opening for Incubus, The Duke Spirit danced on stage recieving mixed applause. “who is this?” thought many, some band thats not a real band for sure, people resumed talking, smoking, drinking… preparing themselves for the real band Incubus.

But, the crisp vocals, keen guitar, catchy lyrics, and hypnotizing harmonica soon stole the audiences attention. “wow,” some thought, “this is all really nice.”

the main singer was pretty hot too.

When they had finished their long list of unknown songs they were gone, and then Incubus took their place, and the audience was ready for them.

Logan got home and wasn’t thinking about how great Incubus was, and they were, rather, Logan thought of the neat new band he had experienced…

The Duke Spirit, find them online, listen, and enjoy. Best downloaded music Logan’s ever recieved.

for the record, The Duke Spirit is what i always wanted Regina Spektor to sound like. If Jack White were a woman, boom, that is what he’d sound like. this stuff is good.

layne to rest

Alice in Chains, a band, a great band, a brainchild between guitarist jerry cantell and late lead vocalist layne staley. AIC was part of a grundge explosion in the 90′s and produced many a great track in the day. Rooster, Man in the Box, Angry Chair, Dam that River, and Them Bones were amung my very favorite songs my whole life, Alice in Chains were asured greatness. the only thing holding AIC back was the addiction Layne had with drugs, which claimed his life in 2002. 2002, was a long time ago, since then Alice in Chains had sorta slug back in the minds of grundge/rock fans… until now.

[enter] Black Gives way to Blue!

finally a new studio album from one of my favorite bands! but lets hold on a minute before rushing in- its been a long time, their very distinct lead singer is gone, and grundge is no longer as accepted today as it used to be- it seemed to me that too much has changed for Alice in Chains during their unfortunate break, how would they manage?

they manage, their album black gives way to blue breathes true to their previous work. i was afraid too much would be different, but i am actually very pleased at all that they have kept similar. they have this new lead singer for them- he is no layne staley, but he is certainly alice in chains material. william duvall is his name, singing is his game, and he is good. this new singer keeps the snarl/sing fashion layne pioneered, and honestly his voice is very compatable to cantell’s guitar- which is just as great.

i have not been keeping count, but alice in chains’ new studio album black gives way to blue recieves positive brownie points for sure- i’m feeling lazy today. what i thaught would be negative factors for this album (new singer, new age, no clue) have just been my ignorant bias of anything less than that of staley for the band. i have been proven very wrong and it does feel good.

all secrets known, check my brain, last of my kind, your decision, a looking in view, when the sun rose again, acid bubble, lesson learned, take her out, private hell, and black gives way to blue are my favorite songs on this new album…

buy, listen, enjoy, thank me

subterranean homesick alien

it is a song by radiohead, a parody of one of bob dylan’s.

now it is also a short story, it is in one of my pages, read it and then feel free to give me constructive critisism.

the title “subterranean homesick alien” refers to the main character Tom, who is a man not too pleased with his life. He wishes to escape from all of Earth’s troubles; the space craft he stumbles upon walking to his apartment one day just might be his ticket to the stars.

i enjoy being caught in the rain… long walks on the beach however…

want to know something more about me? i run cross country for my beloved school ACHS, i have just joined this year out of the blue, no prior running in my school career, not once, but lookie- i jumped right into it and wanted to crawl right out just as suddenly.

but this isn’t about the punishment of cross country, this article is about the trials of said punishment. of our four(?) meets thus far, we’ve run two in the pouring rain. rain be dammed. the first run in the rain got me sick- and i have just recovered from that three week old cold. twas a harsh one.

today after school we ran another five kilometers in the rain and thunder, at our own campus. this was the first meet i’d beed nervous to run, because i would have to impress my family who were watching- usually i can come home and stretch the truths of my cross country exploits- today they saw me for what i can run. none too impressive i’m sure.

during this trek around the campus however i was encourage by few who i was purely glad to be there. my girlfriend mikey bard being one. that girl has some pipes let me tell you, through all the thoughts in my head, my panting, and clogging i could hear her swell chant from across the football field… “go logan!” and how could i let her down right? and so go i went.

i probably got passed by some four people after then, but i still felt warm in the chilling rain knowing she was there for me.

later my dad told me to finish strong- and i didn’t quite feel like finishing at all, running takes a toll. finish i did however. 19th of 26 boys, and i beat more than half the girls i’m sure… me and the rings have fun trying to outrun each other- there is my competition. in practices i strive to climb the ladder that is the lap time of my team- nowhere but up.

the rain though, hope i don’t get sick- *cough*

oh well.

settlers of catan!

the friends got together today and played the german award winning board game settlers of catan. it is really quite grand. a simple family game (+5bp)where the aim is to expand across the island of catan gathering the elements, raising armies, buiding cities and roads, and bargaining amungst challenger settlers (+5bp). a player wins (by home rules) by being the first to obtain 12 points- which often takes anywhere from 1-3 hours (+1-3bp).

here at the game piece emporium we got all your game piece needs! we got colors: white, yellow, green, red, blue and brown. we got roads:14-15 per player (we’ve lost some (-5pb)). we got settlements: 5 per player (blue has 4 and a lego brick (-5bp)). we got cities: 4 per player. we got element cards: wheat, sheep, brick, rock and wood. we got development cards: soldiers, knights, buildings and such. we got hexagonal board pieces, some are blue. we got round number pegs. we got two 6 sided dice. we got a thief too (+5bp).

the game is real easy to play (+5bp), quick to learn (+10bp), and has a warm pace that lets the game roll on without requiring all the attention in the room (+10bp). i’ve got the 5-6 player expansion wich was a little pricey (-10bp)- but there are many other expansions still to buy (+5bp).

settlers of catan is very much worth looking into, it can be found only where other awesome things are sold.

settlers of catan brownie points: 26-29!

“the dialup” and: waiting to surf

i’ve actually come to embrace my lousy er- loud internet surfing board. it’s homey. while all of you are probably surfing five to six waves at once, while listening to still downloading music: the hip and the pop- i am taking my sweet time (-5bp), and rather enjoying it. see- as i see it, you can’t just spring up five to six waves to surf from out of the blue… it isn’t natural. my brainchild al gore would certainly not approve. no, the waves aught to be welcomed at first, spotted from afar, have gathered a croud around you to see the wave’s progress (+5bp), spoken to (+5bp), sung to (+10bp), begged to (-5bp)- “hurry up you infernal wave!” -and again begged to (-10bp), fed, refreshed (-10bp), and given your fullest attention (+7bp). no downloading the lime wire or burning the track is recomended by any means (-10bp). this would almost certainly slow the wave to even lesser of a crawl… but uh, i insist- the longer you await the wave to come, the more satisfying it is to surf (+10bp), and the more irritating it is to read “page could not be found.” after twelve minutes waiting to watch the 9 comercial with the ragdoll and the robot… those are twelve minutes i won’t soon get back (-12bp).

“the dialup” brownie points: -15!
